The Hunterdon County Chamber of Commerce and the County of Hunterdon is proud to hold its 3rd Annual Hunterdon County Community Day on Saturday, June 4th from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM at South County Park-Hunterdon County Fairgrounds, located on Route 173 in Ringoes. Admission is free to attend and it will take place rain or shine. There is a suggested $5.00 donation that goes directly to the Flemington-Raritan First Aid & Rescue Squad, which is coordinating the parking.
This fun-filled event celebrates everything Hunterdon! New this year is the British Invasion Tribute Band which is going to be performing LIVE from 2:30-5:30 pm on the main stage. More than just the Beatles, The British Invasion Tribute Band’s performance is three shows in one. First you will hear classic songs by iconic sixties British Groups. Then the American Musical response follows, with memorable hits by celebrated artists. The sixties era retrospective concludes with an extraordinary note-for-note finale.
In addition back by popular demand, Michael Shwedick’s Reptile World will be holding three live reptile shows throughout the afternoon., Reptile World Inc is bringing back their popular Reptile Shows at 1, 3 & 5 pm.
New this year will be a County Shredding Day sponsored by Hunterdon County Clerk Mary Melfi. The hours for shredding will be from 1:00 PM to 5 PM. Guest who have items to shred will be directed to the designated drop off area and then directed to parking. There is a limit to five small boxes of paper per vehicle.
“From local businesses to non-profit organizations to our 26 municipalities, we are ready to celebrate everything Hunterdon on June 4th. This year’s theme will be celebrating Hunterdon’s great past, and there will be quite a few activities and games that are reminiscent of the bygone days,” said Chris Phelan, President of the Chamber.
Hunterdon Prevention Resources along with the Hunterdon County Sheriff will be offering a Prescription Take Back from 12:00-6:00 pm and offering free Child ID cards. In addition the Clinton Township Police Department will have the DUI simulator and the Reading Township Police Department Canine Unite will be having a demonstration.
Hunterdon Healthcare is going to have a repair-a-bear station as well as face painting at their tent. In addition they will be setting up a fun obstacle course in partnership with the Hunterdon Healthy Work Force Initiative. Live Right with ShopRite will be sharing health and wellness tips along with fun and interactive activities. Also, for those who enjoy baking, they can enter the 2st Annual Hunterdon County Pie & Cookie Contest, sponsored by Hunterdon Prevention Resources. New this year, brought to you by Hunterdon Helpline, “Dog Days of Summer” will include canine training demonstrations and clinics for dog and dog owners, as well as a Canine Good Citizen testing, levels 1 and 2. Kindred Companions will be demonstrating “Nosework” and “Canine Fitness Tricks” in addition to offering free “Loose Leash Clinic and CGC testing throughout the event. Canine Country will be demonstrating the training techniques of “Shutzhund,”meaning “protection dog” in German, used to establish “happy and useful companions.”
This festive event will also include a petting zoo, pony rides, children’s games, kid’s rock wall, bouncy rides, dunk tank, fire & rescue squad vehicles, demonstrations from local businesses and organizations, tethered rides on the Unity Bank Balloon. There will be plenty of delicious food for purchase by Maddalenas Cheesecake & Catering, Rita’s, The Ice Cream Parlor and Kettle Korn.
