Trustees of the Union Forge Heritage Association (UFHA) hosted a hike of the 7 mile Taylor SteelWorkers Historic Greenway

Happy Trails to you…..

In recognition of Nation Trail Day 2015, Trustees of the Union Forge Heritage Association (UFHA) hosted a hike of the 7 mile Taylor SteelWorkers Historic Greenway in High Bridge on June 6th.  The Greenway was created and built by the UFHA to honor the working men and women of the Taylor Wharton Iron and Steel Company, and tie together all the historic properties associated with the Iron Works with a hiking trail.  The trail was opened to the public in 2010 and features a restored truss bridge and historical kiosks at each property.   Pictured is Bill Honachefsky speaking to the hikers at the trail head located along the Columbia Trail.  A trail branch is currently being planned to connect the Greenway to UFHA’s new headquarters, located at the heart of the Union Iron Works, in Union Township NJ.  For more information about the trail and to sign up for our next scheduled UFHA trail tour, contact Mike Gronsky or Bill Honachefsky at UFHANJ@hotmail.com
