Union Forge Heritage Association kicked off their 2015 season

at the 1760 Joseph Turner House on May 17th with a lecture by Master Gardner Ruth Claus.  Ruth delighted the capacity crowd with an entertaining and informative presentation on Colonial “Kitchin” or herb gardens that were necessary for early settler.  Guests learned about lost gardening methods and how women used herbs to provide food, clothing and medicine for their families.  Guests were also given a tour of the Solitude Heritage museum and the new herb garden on the museum grounds.
