United Way of Hunterdon County is busy transforming a once-vacant building in the center of Flemington into a vibrant Community Volunteer Center. The center will be a place where the community comes together to take part in volunteer activities such as Holiday Hands, Tools 4 School and the Halloween Costume Swap.

“As a board member of United Way of Hunterdon County and a local business owner I am proud to see this volunteer center coming to life in the heart of Flemington. This first-of-its kind volunteer center will be the place where we can all come together to build a stronger community,” explains Michael Young, owner of Spoor, Behrins, Campbell & Young Securities Corp.

A Community Volunteer Center is more than a place where things get done. It is a place where things get changed. A Community Volunteer Center is the place where families come to reinforce a culture of volunteerism, a place where neighbors come to lend a hand to neighbors in need, a place where the community comes together to make a difference and build a stronger community.

The United Way Community Volunteer Center will provide an infrastructure for sustained volunteerism as well as allow for programs to continue to thrive like Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA), which brought back $1.25 million in tax credits and returns to our community. Programs helping women through life’s transition also contribute to a strong and thriving community. If needed, the Volunteer Center will also provide a place for people to come together to engage in recovery efforts in the event of a community-wide disaster.

United Way of Hunterdon County has launched a Legacy Brick Campaign in support of the Volunteer Center.  A beautiful brick wall displaying the names of individuals and companies with a commitment to the community will be featured in the center’s reception area. For information on how you can be part of the effort in a visible and lasting way visit https://www.bricksrus.com/order/volunteercenter/ or call 908-782-3414. A limited number of bricks are available. United Way of Hunterdon County also welcomes everyone in the community to come by and see the amazing transformation in progress at 20 Fulper Road, Flemington.

United Way of Hunterdon County is a community center for volunteerism, leadership and philanthropy that envisions a community where all individuals and families achieve their full potential through income stability, healthy lives and education.
