Califon has four (4) road projects either currently underway or scheduled in the near future. Information will be posted on Fridays, for the work conducted by Aqua NJ Water Company, conducting the water main work, for the week following. A list of the projects and their status as of July 10, 2015 are as follows.
- Aqua NJ Water Company water main replacement project on Main Street from Mill Street to Philhower Avenue. The Project commenced on Tuesday, July 7th, and the anticipated completion date is on or about August 1, 2015. Main Street will remain open to traffic for duration of project. The contractor is Penn Bower. This is a Aqua NJ Water Company Project.Please Note, Main Street Businesses are open for business daily and on weekends. Stop by and purchase something, and see how the construction is progressing at the same time.
Anticipated within the Month
- A Resurfacing/Repaving Project for County Route 512 (locally North Main Street and Academy Street) from the intersection of Route 512 and Route 513 down Route 512 (N. Main Street) continuing on County Route 512 (Academy Street) to border of Tewksbury TwpThis is a “tentative” schedule:, and the project should commence “on or about” the last week of July, or the first week of August. The duration of project is anticipated to be about four (4) weeks. The contractor for the project is Tilcon. This is a Hunterdon County Project.
- The Railroad Avenue/Main Street Stormwater Project will extend up Main Street from Mill Street to Philhower Avenue. The anticipated start date is on or about July 29th or 30th. The anticipated completion date is about February, 2016. The project will take nine (9) months and run through part of the winter. The contractor for the project is Rock Solid Construction, Inc. This is a Borough of Califon Project.
Scheduled for September
- The Hunterdon County J-1 Bridge, deck replacement project. This project was originally scheduled to commence in July, however, the project has been delayed. The “tentative schedule” is for work on the project to commence around September 1st .It is anticipated that the duration of the project will be two (2) months.The Bridge will be CLOSED to vehicular traffic, however sidewalks will be open and passable for pedestrian traffic (school age children will be able to cross to get to school). Motorists are advised to please follow the “detour” signs that will be conspicuously posted. The contractor for the project is CMS Contracting . This is a Hunterdon County Project.
