WHITE TOWNSHIP, NJ – Valeria “Nip” Messinger, 97, of White Township, NJ, passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2016 at the Chelsea at Brookfield in White Township, NJ.
Born June 10, 1919 in Phillipsburg, NJ, Nip lived in Holland Township, NJ for many years before moving to Milford, NJ. She was a resident of the Chelsea at Brookfield for the past seven years. Nip was a homemaker. She was employed as an inspector at Plessy Corp. in Frenchtown, NJ. Prior to that, she worked at Riegel Ridge Community Center in Holland Township, NJ. Nip enjoyed visiting the NJ shore, going to casinos, and gardening. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
Daughter of the late George and Minnie (Stull) Walters, Nip is survived by her sons, George Messinger and his wife, Linda, of Murrell’s Inlet, SC, and Richard Messinger and his wife, Carol, of Annandale, NJ, her two daughters, Marjorie A. Willever and her hushand, Keith, of Moravian Falls, NC, and Susan Philkill of Millville, DE, and Gerald Philkill of Clinton, NJ. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Laurie Deadrick, Scott Messinger, Debbie DeLorenzo, Michael Messinger, Brad Willever, Brandy Willever, Craig Philkill, and Melissa Philkill, and her nine great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Ernest Messinger in 1998.
Funeral services will be private. Arrangements are under the care of the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Road, Milford, NJ.
