Velma Gene Samson, age 91 years, of Flemington, NJ, died Wednesday, November 1, 2017, at Independence Manor, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born in Norwich, CT., November 11, 1925, daughter of the late Rev. Edward C. and Evelyn Shattuck Dunbar, she had resided in Flemington since 1928,
A graduate of Flemington High School, Class of 1943 and a graduate of Douglass College, Class of 1947, she was formerly organist/choir director at the Flemington Baptist Church and later at Clover Hill Reformed Church, Clover Hill, NJ for many years.
Velma Gene was a member of the Clover Hill Reformed Church and the Flemington Woman’s Club.
Her husband, Edward Samson, died in 2008, her daughter, Deborah Fouse, died in 2013, and her brother, Norman Dunbar, died in 2013.
Surviving are two sons, Peter Samson of Portland, OR. and Andre Samson of Seattle, WA; three grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, November 17, 2017, at 10:30 AM in Clover Hill Reformed Church, Clover Hill, NJ. Interment will be in Clover Hill Cemetery under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. There will be no calling hours.
