PITTSTOWN NJ – Walter Unorski, age 82 years, died Friday, November 4, 2016 at his home in Franklin Township, surrounded by his family. Born January 12, 1934, on the family farm in Pittstown, he was the son of the late Emil and Joann (Kemps) Unorski and was a resident of Pittstown his entire life.
Walter was a member of the first class to graduate from North Hunterdon Regional High School in 1952. He then later attended Teterboro School of Aeronautics in Teterboro NJ and also served in the United States Navy during the Korean War on the USS Intrepid. Walter was an airline technician with American Airlines and Flying Tigers, as well as a farmer.
Walter loved being a farmer and fishing, particularly the many fishing trips with the guys to Canada. He loved all animals, especially his dog, Fred, and working outdoors with anything that put his hands to work. He would tinker with tractors and would often be found with tools in his hand, fixing many items around the farm. Most of all, he loved his family and adored his two grandsons, Josh and Matthew.
In addition to his parents, Walter was predeceased by his sister, Helen Unorski Shrimpe, his infant brother, Joseph Unorski, and his sister-in-law, Janet Miller. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Nancy Huff Unorski, his son and daughter-in-law, Walter and Erica Unorski of Freeport, Long Island, his daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Cornelius DiLauro of Pittstown NJ, his grandsons, Joshua Unorski of Newport RI, and Matthew Unorski of Sparta NJ. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, John and Darlene Unorski of Easton PA, his brothers-in-law and their spouses, John and Tina Huff of Pittstown NJ, Peter and Dorothy Huff of Clarksville TN, and Ira and Helen Huff of Valparaiso IN.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at St. Catherine of Sienna Church, 2 Whitebridge Road, Pittstown, NJ 08867. Interment will follow in Neshanic Cemetery in Hillsborough NJ. There are no calling hours.
