History jumps out and grabs listeners in stories and songs by author-singer-songwriter Gordon Thomas Ward on Thursday, September 7, 7:30 pm at Faith Chapel Wesleyan Church, 43 Lower Landsdown Road in Franklin Township. If using GPS, enter Annandale as the town. Rural Awareness, Inc., a non-profit civic group in Franklin Township, sponsors the free program. No reservations are required.
Mr. Ward titles his program, Welcome to the Past. This timeless, multimedia presentation celebrates the layers of history in our landscapes, which can be truly magical places where the past is very much alive and entwined with the present. In brilliant detail, Mr. Ward accompanies himself on a guitar and both entertains and illustrates the signatures we leave behind us and celebrates the geographies of our lives.
He is often on television and radio and hosts a regular program every Monday from 5:00-6:00 pm on WDVR, 89.7 FM and www.wdvrfm.org.
Mr. Ward grew up in Bernardsville, New Jersey, and spent summers at the family’s cottage in Maine. After high school, he went to Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison, where his father was a professor, and majored in fine arts and psychology. He currently divides his professional time between writing, lecturing, songwriting, and performing. He resides in northern New Jersey where he also pursues his other passions, photography, hiking, and running.
The next talk sponsored by Rural Awareness will be on November 2 with amateur archeologist Erich Zeh onPrehistoric Stone Tools and Their Uses. Mr. Zeh will show samples from his own collection.
