Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns, III, Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of Detectives John J. Kuczynski, and Readington Township Police Chief Sebastian Donaruma announced the arrest of one individual for robbery and weapons offenses. According to Prosecutor Kearns, “Victor Deleon, age 53, of Whitehouse Station, was arrested and charged with Robbery, a first degree crime, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, a third degree crime, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, a fourth degree crime, and Criminal Restraint, a disorderly persons offense.
Mr. Deleon approached a victim in the parking lot of the Bishop’s Supermarket and demanded money. The victim, believing Mr. Deleon had a weapon, called 911 and he was subsequently arrested by the Readington Township Police Department. Mr. Deleon was found to be in possession of a screw driver. Mr. Deleon was lodged in the Somerset County Jail and is awaiting his first court appearance.” The filing of a criminal complaint is merely a step in the criminal justice process. The defendant is presumed innocent until the matter is resolved in a court of law.
