WOMAN BILKS WAL MART OUT OF 75K Plus in fake hours

Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns, III, announced the indictment of Nicola
Stasak, age 35, of Phillipsburg, NJ. On August 31, 2017, Ms. Stasak was indicted by a
Hunterdon County Grand Jury for one count of 2nd degree Theft by Deception and one count of 3rd degree Forgery.
Ms. Stasak was arrested after a joint investigation by the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office
Major Crimes Unit and her employer, Walmart, revealed that she adjusted and transmitted
fraudulent time sheets to her employer in order to be paid for time she did not work. The crime
took place between January 1, 2015 and April 14, 2017. The fraudulent activity resulted in a
monetary loss of greater than $75,000 to Walmart.
The filing of a criminal complaint is merely a step in the criminal justice process. The defendant
is presumed innocent until the matter is resolved in a court of law.
